So, I was in New York City on Thursday and Friday of last week (2/26-2/27). I went to the Omni Berkshire on 52nd street to meet up with some co-workers, and there I saw NYC’s BIGGEST sewer rat EVER!

I’m not sure what they were protesting. Something about construction at The Pratt Institute. It was pretty cool! I wanted to join in on the fun!

South Padre Island

So….a couple of months ago, I reserved a hotel room in South Padre Island for this week so that Laura and I could go and get away for our 1st wedding anniversary. Well, we have decided to take Andi with us. Everyone that we have told this to has said that we are crazy. They’ve said that South Padre is going to be too wild for her. I’ll be honest…I’m starting to get a little nervous. I guess I just figured that with all the miles of beaches on the island, we should be able to find SOME place that wasn’t too crazy.

I guess we’ll see how it goes. Hopefully Andi doesn’t show up in the background of some “Girls Gone Wild” video!

I got back from a trip to Philly on Tuesday.  Laura and I went up there for a bridal shower that her family threw for her.  We had a great time!  I got to play in some snow with Laura’s cousin Sam!  It was the first time in 22 years that I’ve seen snow.

Snow!

Here is a shot of my feet to prove that I was in the snow!

While we were there, we went to the King of Prussia Mall.  It was HUGE!  There was one thing that caught my eye, however.  While walking through Macy’s looking for some gloves, I spotted an iPod vending machine in the men’s department!

All in all, we had fun.  Even got to have an authentic Cheesesteak from Geno’s Steaks.  It blew away every single other Cheesesteak I have ever had.  Hands down. While I was there, I was also introduced to Wawa, a regional convenience store.  It was AWESOME!  They had some outstanding hot dogs, and I would venture to say that I liked their coffee better then Starbuck’s.Well, that’s it from me for now! We are now less then two months from the wedding!  Things are starting to pick up!  :-)

Well, we made it home without much excitement. Chris’s corp won 2nd place in the finals. He was on cloud nine, and he deserved it! He and the others in his corps worked really hard. We saw them practicing in the triple-digit heat here in south Texas back in July.

We only got to visit with him for a few hours after the competition. We had to leave for Chicago at 7AM on Sunday to make our flight home. I wish we could’ve spent more time with him. We won’t see him again until Christmas.

My Chris started school today. Day 1 of the 8th grade. He’s the big man on campus this year. I hope he enjoys it while he can. A year from now he’ll be a little fish in a MUCH bigger pond.

DCI Semi-finals

We are now in Madison, WI at Camp Randall Stadium. The temperature is a cool and breezy 70 degrees. It feels awesome!

We spent the majority of the day in Chicago. We went to the skydeck of the Sears Tower and saw the awesome view, then had some delicious stuffed pizza. After our 2PM lunch, I paid $26 to leave the parking garage after 3 hours! Oh yeah! And we saw a poor old lady fall and bust her head open in a souvenier shop. Her daughters were already talking lawsuit!

Well, its time for me to get back to the competition. Chris’s corps is almost on!

We made it!

Well, we got to the airport at 5AM to find out that the airports had been raised to threat level orange due to a terrorist plot uncovered in the UK. Luckily we had already packed all liquids in checked baggage. It took a little longer to get through security, but we made it ok.

The flight to Chicago was pretty uneventful, other then getting re-routed 45 minutes out of the way due to inclement weather. The weather here is humid and VERY overcast. We can’t see the tops of any of the buildings.

BUT…..there was one ray of sunshine….
