I know. I know. Where have I been? It’s been like a year since my last post. Well, the last year has been quite….how shall I put it….busy. In the past year, I have marked my 11th anniversary at Rackspace, and I graduated with an Associate’s Degree from San Antonio College. The biggest change is that Laura is currently 36 weeks pregnant with a baby boy whom we will be naming Rylan Elias Ayala! He is expected anytime between this very moment, and Tuesday July 19th.

I hope to post more developments of Rylan’s birth and first few days here on this blog. Stay posted!

The Twins’ Heartbeats

No Gravatar

So, last week I rented a Fetal Doppler Heartbeat Monitor so that Laura and I could hear the heartbeats coming from the twins.  It was delivered yesterday, and we gave it a try.  Here are two MP3s that I made of the heartbeats.  In the second one, you can hear Andi saying that she thinks it sounds like a dog.  I think she was referring to the sound of a dog panting.  :-)

My dog, Belle, is weird.

Originally uploaded by gargoyle_1175

Belle is the best dog I’ve ever had. She is very gentle. She’s the only dog I have ever had that didn’t nearly bite my hand off when I handed her food or treats. She only barks when there is a stranger outside. She listens to your commands, and she is potty trained. All without ANY formal training.

She is kind of weird though. This is a picture of depicting how she normally relaxes. She LOVES to lay down like this. She’s a strange one….

Dalek The Bearded DragonDalek The Bearded Dragon

Introducing the newest member of my family, Dalek the Bearded Dragon! We aren’t sure if Dalek is a he or a she, and I’m really not sure what owning a bearded dragon will entail. Laura is the one who will be keeping track of it, but I think it’s cool nonetheless. They are supposed to be able to grow to 24″ long, and Andi is excited about being able to “walk it”. :-)

DCI/Cavaliers in San Antonio!

Well, it’s that time of the year again! The DCI Southwestern Championship is in San Antonio this Saturday, July 19th! This year, I’ll be cheering on The Cavaliers.

This year is my brother-in-law’s age-out year, and he chose The Cavaliers as the corps that he wanted to be in for his last year. Last year he was in the World Champion Blue Devils, the year before that he was a member of the 1st place drum line for Phantom Regiment, before that he was a member of The Crossmen, and finally before that he started out with The Jersey Surf.

I went to watch them practice last night, and MAN were they AMAZING! Their show this year is called “Samurai”, and I can not wait to see them perform it at the Alamodome tomorrow night! These guys are dedicated! It was H-O-T yesterday in the hot summer Texas sun, and they never slowed down! I was highly impressed, and I wish them all the best of luck on Saturday, and for the rest of the season!

South Padre Island

No Gravatar

So….a couple of months ago, I reserved a hotel room in South Padre Island for this week so that Laura and I could go and get away for our 1st wedding anniversary. Well, we have decided to take Andi with us. Everyone that we have told this to has said that we are crazy. They’ve said that South Padre is going to be too wild for her. I’ll be honest…I’m starting to get a little nervous. I guess I just figured that with all the miles of beaches on the island, we should be able to find SOME place that wasn’t too crazy.

I guess we’ll see how it goes. Hopefully Andi doesn’t show up in the background of some “Girls Gone Wild” video!

New Home Update – It’s starting!

No Gravatar

We stopped by the lot this weekend and found that they are starting to put up the forms for the foundation!  It’s up on three of the four sides, so for the first time, we are able to see how the house is going to sit on the lot, and how our backyard is going to look.

The only problem that we saw was that our neighbor has a trailer on the side of their house that is now blocked in by the foundation forms.  You can see pictures of it on my photo gallery:

New Home Update – 8/20/07

Well, I got an email from our customer service rep at Pulte on Friday.  He said that the "final" date on our house is December 3rd.  That is the date that they say everything should be complete, and we would close on it a couple of days later.  I’m still a bit skeptical since they haven’t even broken ground on it.  I guess we’ll see!  Wish us luck!
